Good spot for comfort food! I enjoyed my chicken and waffles, and our server was very kind and attentive. Would definitely go back.
I got the chicken fried steak, fried okra, and fresh collards, and they were all delicious! The whole family was able to eat for less than $40 before the tip. The building and facilities were all like new. And the staff was friendly and attentive. If you like home style country cooking this is a great place to get it.
When you want the taste of home cooking....Lizard's Thicket Restaurant is where you want to go. The baked macaroni is to die for....it is so good. The cornbread muffins taste like cake. The pork chop is outta this world...what more could I say....when you want some good 'ol country cooking...Lizard's Thicket Restaurant is definitely the place to go.
The baked chicken was pink, the waitress was not friendly, and the food didn't taste good at all. I was told by the staff that the chicken was okay and always came out pink because the chicken is frozen and they use a spice that leaves it pink. They did not tell me what spice it was and I cannot find anything that would do that; unless it was an Asian dish, which it was not. I would not recommend this restaurant if you want to have good southern food.
I went through the drive-through today and ordered spicy black eye soup and vegetable beef soup. When the cashier repeated my order, she said, spicy black eye soup and veggie soup. I said, no, I don't want veggie soup, I want vegetable beef soup. She said okay. I pulled forward to the window and told the cashier that I had emphasized BEEF because I have ordered vegetable beef soup before and it had no beef which really made me mad. Anyway, I took the two soups and went home. Guess what? No beef in the "vegetable beef" soup and he said it tasted like cabbage water. The spicy black eye soup was as if someone had opened a can of Food Lion black eye peas, dumped them in a bowl and covered them with water. The Lizard Thicket near my house can't make edible soup anymore either. Sorely disappointed!!! The last three chilis I ordered tasted just like a bottle of lemon and nothing else. Disgusting. Come on, I think you can do a lot better !!!
