The place was a complete mess from outside to inside top to bottom
The hotel was a mess when I went. I don't know if they were in the middle of renovations and just decided to open up so they could make a profit off of the eclipse travelers, but it certainly seemed that way. It was not worth what I paid. The hallways were a mess, there was paint everywhere, it looked like they had just thrown things together, several things weren't working in the room, one of the ice machines was broken, the elevator wasn't working, check-in took a very long time with only one worker. There was a child there that was apparently working too. A bit odd. And when I made a waffle for breakfast it tasted sour, like the batter had gone bad. This place was not worth the $70 I paid.
The smell is horrible. The rugs are nasty stained. There is a strong smell of cigarettes even though this is a non smoke room. There where no towels in the room. I had to ask 3 times to get 2 towels and 2 face cloths only. I came in with my service dog. It was pouring outside. I needed towels to dry her off. The shower drips and fridge is broken. Coffee maker is missing the top. There is broken furniture in the room too. We are taking refuge from a bad storm or we would have not stayed. Upon checking out, I complained that we never got the additional towels so that only one of us could shower. He told me I should have told him before he rang me out. I had not handed him the keys. I started out telling him of the issues. He took the keys and tried to get rid of me. I told him I was NOT paying full price for that room. He offered $5 off, I said no. I told him minimum of $20 off. I am a Choice member over 5 years. I made him call his manager to get approval. They spoke a foreign language. He hung up and muttered about letting me bring in my dog. I then yelled (having previously kept my cool) telling him that I provided my service dog ID which legally I didn't have to do, but that is a federal law they have to accept us. Rude, disrespectful, ignorant and should not be a Hotel. The list place should charge by the hour! Disgusting!!! ZERO STARS!!!
I understand that they are remodeling but the remote control for the tv didn't even have a back cover
If I wanted that room I would have reserved it
Do not book a room with this econolodge- they will cancel your paid room without notification.
They couldn't pay me to stay here again
The room I reserved was for a king size bed and they gave me a 2 bed room instead
Because they gave us the option to drive the three and a half hours at 11:30 at night to go to another hotel and we declined, they refused to refund our reservation.
I arrived and waited in a dark hallway with no electricity for an hour and a half with my elderly and sick mother for someone to eventually find the key to the let us into our room. Upon entering our room we realized that there was no TV, the floors have been ripped up and there were chunks of broken tile all over the place. There was no toilet. The sink had been ripped out of the wall. There was no mattress. All of the plugs were ripped out of the walls. There was no electricity. But even had there been there were no lamps so it wouldn't have made much of a difference either way.
We were visiting the area to see the solar eclipse and we booked our room a month prior. After driving 17 hours, we arrived at the hotel around 8:00pm and were informed our room has been cancelled because of a "water main break" that happened earlier in the day. We never got a phone call informing us of this issue, or we could have attempted to book another room. They showed us the room we booked, which had no water damage, but was stuffed with stacked mattresses. There were at least 6 other people in the lobby with us who ended up sleeping in their cars last night because this econolodge cancelled our rooms without notification and did not provide alternative arrangements.
The needs looked like a 5 year old made them
I would have absolutely left and demanded a refund except that we were there during the weekend of the eclipse and the closest hotel with any opening for a room was three and a half hours North of us and it was already 8 at night when we first arrived and by the time we realized the extent of be outrageous and unacceptable circumstances, it was 11:00 at night. Also, had we driven the three and a half hours North we would have no longer been and the path of totality for the eclipse. All of this was after having driven 16 hours to this hotel, to see the eclipse.
I then waited another 45 minutes before they gave us the keys to another room. There was only one maitre d and the elevators were broken. The air conditioning in the entire building was broken so it was likely 90 degrees inside. I then single-handedly had to carry our extensive luggage, initially up three flights of stairs and then back down 3 flights of stairs, to turn around and go back up two flights of stairs. When we got to our new room we realized that only two of the plugs worked. There was a lamp with no light bulbs. The television did not work. The internet did not work. There were no towels provided. There were no toiletries provided. There was no toilet paper provided. The beds were horrible and uncomfortable and one of the bedspreads had a huge spill of some kind of cologne that was disgusting and reeked . It had obviously not been washed. After having the only employee that was working come up to our room 6 + times, in order to provide us with toilet paper, pillows, pillowcases, towels, Light Bulbs Etc I felt so guilty I tipped him $40.
The elevator didn't work
Also, if you were planning on using the pool you will be disappointed. Not only was it incredibly small, it was also completely devoid of water.
First and last time staying here
Like I said there was no electricity so the flash on my camera was the best I could do but I'll let the pictures speak for themselves. My battery was dying and I had nowhere to charge my phone so I didn't get nearly as many close up pictures of the unfathomable conditions that this hotel required people to pay admission to endure.
