Comedy show at 2pm was cancelled because the sound check for an evening concert was too loud. BUMMER!
We paid about $20 for admission but proceeds benefit education. WORTH IT!
We saw a country music show where woman played violin while hula hooping. AMAZING!
Bathrooms (not porta potty) were available. YES!!
Farm animals on display and competing in contests. Pig race? I had no idea that a rabbit can grow as big as a dog, or rooster hair can be white and fuzzy. WOW!
Great state fair. we are in our 50's and don't ride any more. but you have to ride the chair lift that goes over everything. O' what a view and even better at night. we also enjoy walking the buildings but for some reason the people in the buildings are getting less and less... :-(
It's nice as fairs go but not nearly as good as in the past. Seemed like WAY fewer vendors and exhibits this year (2017). I don't even ride the rides and they seemed to have less than usual. The food quality has steadily declined while the prices have soared. A bottle of water was $4!!! Entry to the fair has gone up to $10 per person. The concert entertainment is decent but perhaps whomever runs things should consider putting forth more time, money and effort in making the fair THE FAIR and not a concert venue. A huge disappointment.
Exactly what a state fair should be! Lots of great rides, great fair food and great displays! I love the kids art and of course the gigantic sand sculpture. You do not want to miss the soft serve ice cream by the back gate (it's the one across from Williams Brice stadium). Good times!
This is a fun family place. Each year the ticket price goes up. Even with the pay one price bracelets it's still expensive. Ride tickets in Oct. 2017 were $1.25 each. Cheapest Kids ride was 4 tickets. Sneak in your own bottles drink if not you will pay $3 for a 20oz. Food is good but expensive. Prepare to spend a lot of money.
Me and my husband went to annual State Fair. We arrived on a Sunday approx 1pm. Lots of cars. Lots of people. Bravo to police for traffic control. Significant number of vendors selling wonderfully unhealthy and yummy "food". Variety of carnival games - and rides that looked like fun for kids of all ages. You had to buy tickets to get on rides.
