We waited for 3 hours and were given a cart of food, it was very helpful to my family and i froze some of it for future use. HOWEVER you could tell it was unwanted restaurant or grocery store food and a lot of what i was given was past its expiration date or partially rotten. Some of the fresh food items didn't make sense like the 3 grocery bags worth of fresh cilantro... what am i supposed to do with that?
All in all i would do it again if need be, staff was decently friendly but you could tell they we rent impressed to be working there.
When in need with groceries, this is the best place to turn to. No judgment is passed here. Unlike some of the other organizations that do seem to pass judgment, here you can find compassionate people that do get it when you are struggling financially. Beautiful blessing!
These are food DONATIONS. People that complain that the banana's were old or bread was not fresh should really think again before complaining about FREE FOOD. Many canned items collected by scouts & churches. Much of the fresh produce from grocery stores. If given old fruit then bake a pie with it. Where there's a will there is a way! An amazing group of well organized employees that do all they can to feed the hungry. My girl scout troop volunteered there and left with a feeling appreciation and grateful for what they accomplished ...
Helpful for families in need, but be prepared for potentially long wait times and they sometimes give out expired food so look out for that. However, it is FREE assistance so can you really complain.
They give you a little bit of old food if they don't know you, regardless of how many people are in your family. If you do know someone in there they'll give you the good, newest load of food, one or two carts at a time. This isn't complaining and you should be able to choose even if you are in need. Some people can't even eat the stuff they get, whether it's because of their health or it's just inedible. Harvest Hope needs to do better!
