After seeing some quick reviews and images I was excited to see this park with my kids....poor choice the water in the fountain dose not work. The whole place was filled with homeless people. It is great if u are wanting to feed the homeless or offer supplies to them. But no place to go visit. Didn't let my kids get out of the car and there was actually human feces on the ground :(
Nice park, yet there is opportunity to help the homeless, in the process it's a great family spot. The park is always clean. Security is always present to insure your safety.
Large urban park in the heart of Columbia. As with all inner city parks, there is a homeless element, but they are just one group of many that frequent the park and overall it is a lovely place. There is a path out of the edge of the park that is also nice that takes you to the large cemetery by the 126 bridge. It is a great little walk and lots of fun.
A very nice and new children's playground was the highlight, along with a great lawn. The fountain that's in all the pictures was dry, which was disappointing. The primary drawback was the large number of homeless in the park. This made me somewhat uncomfortable being there with my kids. In the end, the kids had a good time, but I felt on gaurd the whole time, which dampened my enthusiasm.
Great bones. Needs some TLC and regular patrols, plus dedicated event staff.
